Weekly Accountability Post
For Monday, March 9, 2026
How was your week?
In this Weekly Accountability Post, I report and show receipts for my progress of the week. And I encourage you to do the same. This simple exchange works wonders to make us both more productive—insanely productive.
Just look at how productive everyone is in the comments…
People are writing and publishing books and articles, writing and producing TV shows, posting daily on social media, growing their platforms, and building their comedy businesses.
If you’re the first one reading this and there are no comments yet, get ready to be impressed.
Gig
As for me…
Did a fun speaking gig this week for a local bank in Kansas City. See my post yesterday for more on that.
Stayed in a charming cabin north of town (in Platte City, pictured above) and experienced the sudden, seasonal waking of the frogs. (Spectacular audio recorded on my phone attached below. Who knew iPhone mics were this good?!)
FunnyCon
Held a slew of FunnyCon meetings, tried to keep up with the emails, and did a lot of planning. It’s coming up in just a couple of weeks now. Visit funny-con.com for tickets. Tell your friends.
Worked on the script (extremely rough) for a little movie we’ll play at the Funny Awards. Rough ideas attached below.
Tallied votes and put together the Funny Award nominees. Look for those on the Funnys website, which I’ll announce next week.
Booked the amazing Rachael Mason to do an Improv workshop.
Signed another sponsor, the spectacular HighLevel, a tool I use every day and recommend to anyone who’s trying to build a business online.
Audiobook
Recorded about half the Creativity Machine audiobook, roughly 2 chapters a day (except when I was on the road). A clip is attached below.
Novel
Wrote two more rough chapters of my satirical Second Civil War novel that’s in me and has to come out, attached below. I’m at about 9,500 words so far. I’m aiming for 80,000. I need to go faster. At least two chapters a day and I could be done in a month. WIth a rough draft, anyway. A lot of it will have to be rewritten.
I think I’m going to call the book Nothing Civil About It (subtitle: a Novel of the Second American Civil War).
After Trump bombed Iran this week (or was that last week?), I realized a sequel is needed: Third Time’s the Charm: a Novel of World War Three. So I’ve started thinking about that, God help me.
More
I kept up with daily Substack posts—barely. I try to post seven times a week, but when my schedule is out of whack (like with travel) I sometimes post six. It seems I’m the only one religious about this. The most common complaint I get is, “You send too many emails.”
