Welcome to the No Dikkering Around weekly accountability post, where I show up with the creative work I’ve managed to get done in the last week, and I encourage you to share what you’ve been working on. Through peer pressure, we keep each other on track with our goals and stay productive!

First, the tale of a city…
In July, the NAACP called on local leaders in Oakland, California, to declare a state of emergency. It was a last-ditch effort to cope with the skyrocketing crime rate and out-of-control homeless population, whose sad encampments lined almost every street.
Looting, random acts of violence, and roving bands of teen hoodlums plagued the city. Black people were victimized the most, by far.
“We are fucked,” a police officer said as he patrolled what’s been called “the most dangerous square mile in America,” where car thieves snatched several cars a day. The understaffed police were outnumbered and outgunned. (Oakland fired its police chief in February.)
In response to the NAACP, the city didn’t declare a state of emergency, and things have only gotten worse. In November, a supervillain hacked the local government’s computers, crippling social services and plunging the East Bay into chaos.
Oakland is Gotham—without Batman!
