That Time of the Week

Show Your Hand...

To those of you new to No Dikkering Around, this is the weekly post that gives the newsletter its name. This is where we stop dicking around and lay our cards on the table. We show everyone what we got done this week, in terms of writing, performing, drawing, or whatever we’re working on.

By standing up and showing our work, we keep each other accountable, stay productive, and meet our creative goals. It works! There’s nothing like accountability (i.e. the shame of showing up with nothing) to keep you on track.

I paused work on my novel starting about two weeks ago in order to focus on building the How to Write Funny business, so I have no new chapters of the novel to share.

However, my agents are excited to get a short treatment for the “Onion origin story” movie. I posted a half-draft last week, and this week I finally found a framing device and throughline that I like, so I have a newer, complete draft that I’ll send to them Monday. It’s posted below.

My goal for next week is to write all the website copy for the new HowtoWriteFunny.com and scottdikkers.com redesigns and updates. Fun stuff!
