1. Too Busy
Sometimes we’re just swamped.
There’s too much going on in our lives. There are insane deadlines at the day job, there’s out-of-town family visiting, there are out-of-state weddings to go to.
In these times, we don’t hit our page goals, performance goals, or project goals. It’s frustrating.
2. A Little Trick that Works
A way to stave off the frustration and feel good about the time is committing to something small: carving out a few minutes every day—even just 10 minutes here and there—to write something, to inch the ball forward on a project.
Need to find some performing time? Tell jokes to your Uber driver, or captivate the other passengers on the shuttle bus at the airport. Consider it your unwitting comedy club.
These fleeting moments are the saving grace that can make busy times feel productive instead of frustrating.
Some of my Uber drivers can barely speak English, so forget trying out a comedy act on them. I could sing at them, but I would probably disturb their phone calls doing that. Oh well!
