We all dream of making enough money from our creative side hustle to quit our day job and do whatever the fuck we want.
The dream is that we make so much money that we’re set. We can kick back, take it easy, and stop hustling all the time.
But that’s not how it works.
Think of anyone who’s made fuck you money: Taylor Swift, Tom Cruise, Steven Spielberg, Oprah.
Are they kicking back? Are they taking it easy and resting on their laurels? Hardly. They’re the hardest working people in show business.
Taylor Swift stays up all night doing meet & greets after concerts so she can say hello to every single fan.
Tom Cruise hangs onto the outside of a military jet at 5 o’clock in the morning to get the perfect shot.
Steven Spielberg is pushing 80 and won’t stop making movies.
Oprah is a media mogul who oversees magazines, TV shows, movies, and a radio network. Sometimes she takes an acting job on top of it all.
People who make fuck you money—and keep making it—hustle like they’re just starting out, like they’re desperate for a chance to be seen and heard.
They hustle like they’re doing it for something more than just money.
If you want fuck you money, start hustling to feed your soul.
I lived this Thoughtful post Scott!
Drill baby drill, after 23 years hard labor, and 20 year desk jocky ... its the burning within that has me clearing my space to show up and write what ever. Just produce, get off the dopamine, keep moving to see what happens next. Letting the result be the results, and with a little luck shit can happen. Money has motivated in the past and found that dead end and rotten fruit. Yet being smart with what we have, for me time is the value I see in the balance I have left on earth. I want to use it for good , fun, laughs and being of service to the world.
