Here at No Dikkering Around, we’re not messing around. Hence, the name. We’re about setting creative goals and achieving them in the best possible way, with the least amount of friction, and as quickly as possible.
Life is short, and we have shit to do!
Part of the effort is the newsletter itself—a daily post to inspire you, inform you, and keep you productive.
Another part of the effort is accountability. I show up with the work I’ve produced in the past week (this week’s is attached below), and I encourage you to do the same. We are accountability buddies.
Yet another part of the effort is the monthly Accountability Meeting, which we held yesterday over Zoom. We had a great time. We welcomed some new members, including an events planner, a Daily Show staffer, an author fresh from a book deal, and a successful comedian.
We also heard from some regular members, an animator finishing a short film, a veteran stand-up comic with big plans for SXSW, and an accomplished comedy writer shopping a pilot, working on a screenplay, and completing a side-hustle project.
We also hosted students, hobbyists, and hopefuls. Everyone is welcomed, celebrated, and supported here.
We talked about how to maximize efforts to sell a book on Amazon, how to promote videos on YouTube, and we shared the single best investment you can make as a comedy creator.
If you’re not a paying member of this newsletter, you’re missing out on quality time with an amazing peer group, money-making advice, an accountability buddy, and the motivation of an engaged community.
I hate to see you suffer. So I’m going to make a deal with you. I’m going to bring back my coaching giveaway (which ended March 1), but only for 24 hours.
Before tomorrow midnight (that’s Monday, March 4 by 11:59 PM CT), if you sign up for No Dikkering Around on the Annual Plan, you’ll get a 1-in-3 chance to win a free half-hour one-on-one coaching session with me.
If you sign up on the Founding Member plan, you’ll get a one-on-one half-hour coaching session with me plus access to one of my high-ticket comedy courses, complete with all the insane bonuses, including lifetime access to the Writers Room, my weekly open-mic / peer feedback community, as well as copies of all the How to Write Funny books.
The coaching session will be a great kick-off meeting, a fun way for me to get to know you, and a chance for you to get some help breaking through whatever’s holding you back.
This is an amazing deal! JaMarr said it well in the Accountability Meeting yesterday:
Thanks, JaMarr!
Okay, on to the week’s work... I focused on making progress on my Elements of Humor book, which I promised to deliver to the publisher by April, so I need to get moving on that. See below four extremely rough chapters—so rough that I normally wouldn’t show anyone such unpolished work. But this is what we do here, for accountability.
