A Social Media Strategy That's Good for You
If you're looking for something to post about, you've found it
Is this post self-serving? Yes! Is it also you-serving? Absolutely.
Occasionally you’ll see me post on No Dikkers Around about someone else. I’ll tell someone’s story, introduce you to their work, or tout their achievements.
Like here, here, here, and here.
I do this when I’m moved to share the efforts of someone I think you’d benefit from hearing about, learning from, or looking into.
On rare occasion I do it because it’s someone who’s work I believe in so strongly that I get a small affiliate commission if you decide to buy a product or service from them.
There’s a whole world of this kind of logrolling and backscratching, where influencers make a hefty side-hustle income hawking each other’s stuff.
I don’t consider myself part of that world. I hardly ever do it. The times I’ve liked and used a product so much that I’ve expended social-media capital to brazenly promote it for an affiliate income happened exactly twice in the nearly two-year life of this newsletter, here and here.
Promoting Someone Else
Affiliate income aside, it’s a good look for anyone’s social media account to make it about someone else once in a while instead of themselves. Do you like someone's work? Tell your followers about it!
Okay, here's the self-serving part: If you'll tell your followers about me and my work, I’ll do one better than making you an affiliate…
