Great post. Thank you for what you do, Scott. I’m building the second draft of a novel based on your guidance. These daily messages mean a lot to me. Thanks!
Exactly. Even your own fans! 15% is actually really good. The same is true of videos, I'm sure you've seen the waterfall dive they usually take after 5 seconds. The same is true here! On substack! We can really only handle a few paragraphs.
Was having this thought just this week. Before Star Wars, nobody could pitch their movie as “The next Star Wars”, even Star Wars wasn’t meant to be what it ended up being.
I’m under no illusion that my own screenplay will be the next Star Wars. In fact, I know it won’t. But what I do know is that writing it has helped me understand not only what it takes to write a great screenplay, but how my understanding of myself and the world around me has been formed by my life experiences. That means way more than any box office number.
And even though it’s part of a trilogy that def isn’t getting green lit anytime soon, the fact that those 3 scripts combined are (as of now) roughly 210 is a great source of dopamine when it comes reminding myself I am indeed capable of writing a feature length film, which has truly been my Everest this year!
MASH was almost trashed too!
Put it out there with zero expectations. That's very Zen and I can dig it. Please yourself with what you create and put it out there.

Glad to hear it, Pete!
:')
This is my daily thought. "Who wants to listen to me talk?" I do. I must be delusional, but it's fun.

Nobody wants to read your sh*t by Steven Pressfield is a great quick read. All of his non fiction books are great.
Great minds think alike.

A wise take, Justin!
