Did you ever have a deadline on a creative project, and because you have diagnosed or undiagnosed ADHD, you don’t plan it well, and you end up doing most of the work right up to the deadline when you’re fueled by pure adrenalin?
Not me! I’m a responsible professional. When I have a deadline, I plan well in advance and make sure I’m on schedule and can deliver the work in a timely fashion without breaking a sweat.
Like right now, my book, The Onion Story, is due October 1, and I’ve been carefully portioning my time to write the appropriate number of chapters I need to write every day up until now.
Like always, everything is going like clockwork.
I haven’t had to cancel all my appointments and clear my schedule. I haven’t had to pull all-nighters or survive on 5-hour energy drinks.
That’s not me.
By no stretch of the imagination do I have less than two weeks to write an entire 80,000 word book.
Who would be crazy enough to do that!?
TODAY’s TIP:
Plan ahead.
I’m a big believer in the magic that can happen when you burn the midnight oil before a deadline. It’s bound to happen sometimes.
But endeavor to have your work mostly done by then. Reserve this eleventh-hour dash for punch up only.
BONUS TIP:
Take your own advice.
You know what to do, but sometimes you don’t do it. Listen to yourself. You know good advice when you hear it, even if it’s your own. Why are you sabotage yourself?
